Considering Americans consume over 23 pounds of pizza per person each year, it’s no wonder that 17% of all restaurants are pizzerias. It’s thought that Gennaro Lombardi opened the first pizzeria in the United States in 1895 (in New York City). Pairing: pepperoni pizza with IPA; margherita and Pale Ale; Hawaiian and fruit beer; mushroom and spinach with Stout and straight cheese with Wheat Ale.
